Mlinda develops ‘mini-grids’ for villages in north-east India that depend on expensive and polluting energy. A ‘mini-grid’ is a collective neighbourhood energy hub that connects solar panels to each other. In this way, Mlinda provides households and businesses with affordable, ‘green’ electricity. It also provides entrepreneurs with access to new markets, allowing them to increase their income. Moreover, Mlinda is trying to develop a model that is sustainable in the long term and wants to use this to set an example for the sector.
