Working together for change

In order to accelerate social change, DOEN itself must keep moving forward. In 2025, we continued to build a strong, agile organisation equipped to provide our partners with the best possible support.

An adaptable organisation

In a rapidly changing world, it is important to be able to respond flexibly to new developments. To this end, we continue to improve our ways of working together, making decisions and learning. In 2025, we clarifed roles and responsibilities within teams, enhanced staff onboarding and development pathways, and strengthened our integrity policy. We also continued to develop training programmes and guidance around ethical decision-making and reflection. a

We will keep developing our systems and processes to enable our staff to collaborate more efficiently and focus on what really matters: supporting pioneers who are making a difference.

Opportunities to learn and collaborate

Because we believe good ideas can come from anywhere in the organisation, we aim to foster a culture of learning, reflection and ownership. Through initiatives like the Learning and Connection days, in 2025 we brought colleagues together to share experiences, discuss dilemmas and learn from one another.

We are also working towards more collaborative decision-making. In the Circle of Representatives, staff from different teams contribute their ideas regarding organisation-wide issues. In this way, we are building an organisation that is not only agile but also enjoys the support of its people.

Practising what we preach

As an organisation, our aim is to set an example for our partners. We work continuously on diversity, equality, inclusion, integrity and sustainability, not because we are required to but because we believe societal change starts at the individual level.

We view our own decisions, working methods and impact with a critical eye. We experiment and learn from our successes as well as our mistakes. And we continue to challenge ourselves to make sure the values we promote are apparent within our own organisation.
