In 2025, DOEN continued to support people who are showing how things can be done differently. These pioneers are building new ways of living together, developing innovative solutions and making room for alternative perspectives. Thanks to players of the Postcode Loterij and VriendenLoterij, we were able to support many of these pioneers over the course of the year.
Our mission remains vital. Our partners’ work is more challenging than ever, due to geopolitical shifts, cautious financiers and diminishing sustainability ambitions. Yet the social transitions we’re working towards are a matter of great urgency. For this reason, we continue to support pioneers by offering them security, continuity and the space to grow. We unite people and projects and help to raise their profiles so that they, in turn, can inspire others and encourage them to act.
DOEN believes in a better world – one centred on a circular economy, in which everyone counts and the sense of community is strong. A world that makes space for new ideas, imagination and grassroots initiatives. Often, it’s the places with the most friction where signs of change appear first, in neighbourhoods, businesses and the arts.
With the Postcode Loterij and VriendenLoterij, we shine a spotlight on pioneering projects to bring them to the attention of a wider audience. In this way, we raise their profiles and show that change is possible.
We’re proud of our partners and the positive changes they set in motion. They offer hope, inspiration and a sense of possibility.

“Bewoners zelf weten als geen ander wat er nodig is in hun omgeving. We geloven in de kracht van verandering door bewoners die zelf het initiatief nemen om hun leefomgeving te verbeteren.”

“Dit jaar was de eerste keer dat we de Fair Future Challenge organiseerden. Het enorm grote aantal aanmeldingen heeft ons aangenaam verrast. Dit geeft hoop omdat zoveel mensen ideeën hebben om de wereld een stukje mooier te maken.”
