Wiede Wold
What does the future of the countryside look like? In Wiede would
depict residents of the Drenthe municipality of De Wolden,
together with designers and theatre makers, alternatives to
the future of their countryside. Wiede would is a
manifestation in May-June 2024, with a Design Programme:
in which eight Dutch designers work together with local
communities imagine the future of rural areas;
with a Waste Cathedral built from recycled (waste)
materials and the performance Atropos, with local young people; and
a regional program from the communities. The public
undergoes different perspectives on issues such as the
image of the countryside, new raw materials,
alternatives to current agriculture, different food,
circular construction and care for the landscape.
