Organic city waste to feed and fertilizer
Marula breeds larvae of the ‘Black Soldier Flies’ in Uganda on organic waste. These are processed in animal feed, a nutritious alternative to soy or wild sardines. The residual product is organic fertilizer, which enriches the agricultural lands in Uganda, which in many cases are degraded. Marula works with small-scale farmers to breed these larvae, for which the product is an additional source of income.
