Design for Decomposition – clothing waste initiative27/6
The clothing sector has a huge negative ecological footprint. Biomimicry Institute takes lessons from nature and applies them in the design of new clothing and the breakdown of waste streams. In a temporary partnership, two pilot projects will start, in the port of Rotterdam and in the neighbourhood around Kantamanto Market in Accra, Ghana, in which post-consumer textile flows are broken down in a natural way and converted into raw materials to make new textiles. Testing this technology is the next step towards a more circular textile sector.
