With Battery Bank Africa (BBA), the South African social enterprise, Vittoria Technology, offers an innovative solution to the e-waste challenges in the mini-grid sector, mainly in East Africa. In addition to offering a lease model for 1st-life batteries to minigrid providers, they are now also going to start offering 2ndlife. They carry out quality control and are responsible for the maintenance of the batteries. In this way, Vittoria gives the depreciated batteries a high-quality second life and these activities contribute to a circular economy in Africa.
