The Waarheidscommissie.NL is somewhere between a performance, a theatre performance and a real truth commission. The committee will study the exhibition of indigenous peoples from the Dutch colonies as ‘exotics’ in Rotterdam (1928), Arnhem (1928) and Amsterdam (1883). The central question in De Waarheidscommissie.NL is whether many social discussions today do not have their origins in this specific chapter of colonial history. Historians, artists, activists, young people and the public go together in search of the truth
