Leeszaal Rotterdam West is a meeting place in a former hammam in Rotterdam West. It is a place that was created in response to the closure of two libraries in the neighbourhood. With that closure, residents saw the disappearance of locations that had played an important part in the social and cultural life of the neighbourhood. Through local input, an attractive reading, learning, experimentation and meeting place was finally born in 2013.
Thanks to a big book collection, the efforts of a large group of enthusiastic volunteers and activities organised for and by the neighbourhood, Rotterdam West has regained a place where residents can come together, learn, read, experiment and meet each other.
