Celebrate the art of change

Radical imagination is the ability to imagine the world not as it is, but as it can be. It can question seemingly undisputed truths, continuing to amaze and surprise us. As free-thinkers and radical imaginers, artists, designers and cultural institutions can play an important role in showing others, or allowing them to experience, a different, better world, and in triggering social innovation.

There are still too many people who are on the sidelines of our society. For various reasons, they have little or no contact with art. We want to change that by improving the conditions that allow these people to participate in culture and society as a whole. We call this inclusion. It gives everyone an equal voice and access to the facilities, knowledge, experiences and ideas current in society.

We like to work with artists and cultural institutions whose work leads to projects that are based on changes in society. Thanks to their personal, open-minded point of view, and their social engagement, they often look for unconventional ways to involve people. These “social practitioners” change the rules of the game in their own unique way, both on a large and small scale. This creates a different relationship between maker, audience and other stakeholders, and leads to a new view on the world.

Many cultural projects are experiments that influence the existing structure of the cultural sector in the long term. They are part of a larger movement and they make an impact together – not only within the cultural sector, but also outside it. Only in this way can art offer the public, in the widest sense, different perspectives and bring about social change from the bottom up.
