Sustainable energy for all
Climate change is noticeable everywhere. Extreme natural phenomena are becoming more common and are leading to human migration. In addition, the energy world is in a state of flux and a totally different energy landscape is emerging. There is an urgent demand for innovative solutions and smart (technical) applications for a sustainable society.
Support from DOEN
DOEN supports initiatives that accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society. Specifically, DOEN focuses on pioneers with a business approach. These initiatives have either successfully developed beyond proof of concept and are close to market introduction. Or they involve parties that bring together our ecosystem and/or strengthen the sector.
DOEN focuses on:
- Pioneers in the Netherlands dedicated to facilitating access to renewable energy, enabling consumers themselves to generate sustainable energy, and saving energy.
- Pioneers in East Africa and India dedicated to facilitating access to renewable energy, for example by allowing consumers and entrepreneurs in rural areas to generate their own renewable energy, and saving fossil energy.
DOEN provides direct support to these pioneers in the form of grants, loans, guarantees or investments.

Currently DOEN is mainly processing applications from emerging economies, with a preference for East Africa and India. If you would like to make an application, please read the programme criteria first.
