DOEN uses a number of funding instruments guided by the following principle: subsidies where necessary, loans where possible.
The DOEN Foundation supports pioneers with sustainable, cultural and socially-engaged initiatives. The website describes DOEN’s area of interest as well as the criteria and exclusions. We advise you to read the information on the website carefully before submitting an application.
Send us a short budgeted summary of the project to help us determine if it is eligible for funding. Look here for contact details.
For information on how to make an application, please visit the Application page. An application can be submitted online via the application form, which can be found on that page. All criteria and exclusions can also be found on this page.
You can submit an application by using the online application form. First you should create an account for 'My DOEN'. Then you have access to the online application form. In 'My DOEN' you can work on your application, save it, and continuing working on it later. You will find your saved application also via 'My DOEN'. When you have submitted your application, you can check the progress of your application also there.
We do not work with a minimum or maximum amount of funding. The amount of financial support is considered per application.
The average contribution generally depends on the total amount of the project. DOEN also looks at the impact of the DOEN-contribution to the project.
Applications are submitted online, you can find more information about this at Applications.
Applications may be submitted throughout the year and there are no deadlines. On average, the application procedure takes four months. Therefore, be sure to submit your application at least four months before the project is due to start. The procedure may take longer depending on a number of factors.
An application must be submitted to the DOEN Foundation four months before the initiative starts.
The applicant must be a legal entity. To identify Dutch applicants, a recent (no older than three months) extract from the Chamber of Commerce must be provided. Sole traders, too, are eligible to apply. If the organisation is a legal entity under public law, a declaration from the administrative body must be submitted for purposes of identification.
The DOEN Foundation receives its financial resources from two lotteries: the Nationale Postcode Loterij and the Vrienden Loterij. The areas of operation correspond with those of the lotteries.
