Postcode Loterij & VriendenLoterij

The DOEN Foundation was established in 1991 by the Nationale Postcode Loterij (Dutch Postcode Lottery). Extending and supplementing the lottery, DOEN’s mission is to support organisations in relation to people and the planet. DOEN has received an annual contribution from the VriendenLoterij (FriendsLottery) since 1998.

Nationale Postcode Loterij

The Nationale Postcode Loterij was established in 1989 to support charities focusing on creating a more just, healthy and green world. The lottery raises funds for the charities and publicises their activities.

Your postcode serves as your lottery number for the Postcode Loterij. This means you win together with your neighbours. The lottery currently attracts around three million players who stand a chance of winning hundreds of thousands of prizes each month and who support as many as 148 charity organisations each year with at least 40% of the value of their lottery tickets. Since its foundation, the Postcode Loterij has donated more than €7.3 billion to people and the planet. Every year, DOEN and many other organisations receive support.

VriendenLoterij

The VriendenLoterij is committed to helping all organisations that aspire to making life better by preserving cultural heritage and wellbeing. Examples here include supporting local monuments, your favourite theatre or local sports club, restoring the works of Dutch Masters or renovating the club premises.

Together, the Postcode Loterij and VriendenLoterij form the Holding Nationale Goede Doelen Loterijen. These lotteries have been listed as a Dutch tradition in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory (UNESCO). The Postcode Loterij format is also active in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany and Norway. Together with the lotteries in these countries, the Goede Doelen Loterijen (Dutch Charity Lotteries) serve as the third largest private financier of charities worldwide.
