Social Entrepreneurship
Amsterdam
‘De Juiste Maat’ (the right size) is a project that enables migrant women, who are largely alienated from the job market, to become 'host parents' and care for children in their own houses.

‘My Design’ is a new, hip and ‘high-end’ label for products made by two of the work-based learning enterprises of De Schalm.
Zenderen
As part of a social enterprise, the Zwanenhof Centre of Contemplation offers work experience programmes to people who are alienated from the job market in the region of Twente.
Den Bosch
The Buiten Gewoon ('extra-ordinary') Foundation has established a residential working farm community enabling young people with a mental or physical impairment or multiple impairments to live a meaningful existence as farmers.
Tilburg
Restaurant/lunchroom Prins Heerlijk offers work experience programmes to young people with psychiatric and/or mental disabilities and young people who are largely alienated from the job market.
Wierum
Circus training for young people with special needs, such as learning or physical disabilities ("wajongers"), to enable them to develop their skills and become fully-fledged members of society.

‘Emma at Work’ is a recruitment agency for young people with a chronic illness or physical impairment.
Dronten
In addition to its child care facilities for children with developmental disorders, Enjoy-it Flevoland Foundation will be offering, as of 2009, work-based learning programmes to a maximum of fourteen people with physical, mental or psychological impairments.

‘Spotvogel’ is a theatre workshop based in Haarlem, which utilises participatory drama within psychiatric care to activate and empower care recipients and socially vulnerable people who should be receiving care but are inclined to avoid it.
Castricum
At the tearooms Het Oude Theehuys in Castricum, people with an impairment receive the relevant work experience to go on to enter the labour market.
Purmerend
The Landzijde Foundation offers meaningful daytime activities to people who are alienated from society and the job market at affiliated farm holdings.
Oosterhout
Women with psychological problems, women in financial difficulty or with drug-related problems and premature school leavers create jewellery that is sold at home parties and gain valuable work experience in the process.
Bonaire
The learning-based restaurant De Bonairiaan offers work experience programmes to young people with a minor psychiatric and/or mental disability, behavioural and learning difficulties from Bonaire. The programme aims to empower participants to make the transition to the mainstream job market or to further education.
Zutphen
In the ‘Buurtsuper Speciaal’ project, fifteen supermarkets have been set up in small village centres in the 'Achterhoek' employing people with psychiatric problems.
Rotterdam
The Van de Boer trial store, based in the disadvantaged neighbourhood of Mathenesserkwartier in Rotterdam, offers work experience programmes to young people who are largely alienated from the job market, enabling them to make the transition to the mainstream job market.

The NISB encourages the elderly and people with a chronic illness to participate in physical activity and sport throughout the Netherlands.
Ruinerwold
Establishment of riding stables and a tearoom offering a fun day out for 25 people with a mental impairment, enabling them to participate in horse-riding events with able-bodied people.
Arnhem
The National Sportweek Foundation, in partnership with the National School Breakfast Week, organised a national sports day in all primary schools in the Netherlands, including all special needs schools. The aim of the project was to encourage 60,000 children to join sports clubs and associations after participating in these sports events.

‘Tandem Support’ enables young people with a physical impairment living in the "Drecht" cities to participate in sports events, and encourages them to join regular sports clubs and associations.

Women Win initiates sports projects for girls and women, in particular women of non-Dutch origin, with the aim of emancipating, encouraging and empowering them.

Muziektheater aan Huis (Musical Theatre at Home) organises special performances in nursing homes for the elderly and people with dementia.

The documentary series ‘Zilveren Kracht in Beeld’ (silver power in focus) showcases older people who become volunteers.

‘Zaaiers’ is a short film that paints an intriguing picture of the healing power of working in agriculture and farming for people living on the margins of society.

Unit Academie Foundation offers professional training in the visual arts and design for young people with autism.

Support with the re-integration of 250 detained women and their children during and after detention, aimed at reintegrating them into society.

The project ‘Movimentu pa Futuro’ (‘move for your future’) consists of an intensive sports programme to get disadvantaged youngsters at risk back into mental and physical shape.
