The Dutch Postcode Lottery
The Dutch Postcode Lottery was established in 1989 to support organisations that are committed to a just and green world. Fifty per cent of the total amount paid into the Dutch Postcode Lottery is allocated to good causes. In the meantime the Postcode Lottery has developed into the largest good cause lottery in the Netherlands and it supports 75 such causes. Since its inception the lottery has paid out almost three billion euros to good-cause organisations. In 2009 256 million euros were paid out.
The Dutch Postcode Lottery established DOEN Foundation in 1991 with the aim of distributing a part of the revenues of the Postcode Lottery among smaller organisations and special initiatives within the same sectors: development cooperation and human rights, nature and the environment.
DOEN Foundation receives an annual contribution from the Dutch Postcode Lottery in accordance with the financial regulations. From the 2009 net proceeds DOEN foundation received 22.5 million euros.
The BankGiro Lottery
The BankGiro Lotery is the Netherlands’ cultural lottery: half of the contributions go towards culture. Thanks to its 900,000 monthly participants, the BankGiro Lotery is able to support dozens of museums and other cultural organisations in the Netherlands. This enables them, for example, to acquire important works of art as a special supplement to their collection or to carry out restoration work. From the contributions in 2009 the BankGiro Lotery paid out approximately 60 million euros to culture in the Netherlands. DOEN Foundfation also receives an annual contribution from this lottery.
The Sponsor Bingo Lottery
The Sponsor Bingo Lotery was established by Humanitas in 1989. Fifty per cent of the proceeds goes to good cause organisations. The Sponsor Bingo Lotery supports good causes in the field of welfare and health, clubs and associations. It currently supports 37 good-cause organisations. Since 1998 these organisations have received more than 445 million euros. In 2009 more than 47 million euros were paid out. DOEN Foundation also receives an annual contribution from this lottery.
