Here you can find some projects, which DOEN has previously supported and which are a good example in the area of The New Economy:
DOEN aims to give entrepreneurship an innovatory, sustainable interpretation and seeks new initiatives that make a demonstrable, positive contribution to people and the environment. On the one hand DOEN focuses on finding creative, innovatory ways of adapting economies in order to increase the opportunities for this new entrepreneurship. In addition, DOEN looks at concrete examples of this new entrepreneurship in practice.
Designing a New Economy
In order to make economies more sustainable and more socially conscious, they need to be redesigned. To achieve this DOEN focuses on initiatives of fledgling, sustainable entrepreneurs and on organisations that create change within economic structures. Furthermore, DOEN creates openings for experimental projects, the concepts of which are not yet fully elaborated, or have great potential but have yet to prove their worth.
Sustainable and Social Entrepreneurship (SSE)
Key in this programme is the contribution that initiatives make in real terms to a more sustainable and/or socially-conscious world.
With the Sustainable Entrepreneurship programme DOEN focuses on entrepreneurs who implement sustainable innovations in their business or who market a sustainable product in an innovatory way. DOEN also focuses on producers in developing countries who make a positive contribution to their social and ecological environment. Within this programme DOEN supports worldwide initiatives.
In the field of Social Entrepreneurship, DOEN focuses on companies which in addition to their economic objective also pursue a clear social objective. This means the active participation of vulnerable groups in society. DOEN also focuses on social enterprises, businesses that offer a workplace to people who are at a long distance from the labour market. Companies that not only take into account the social aspect but also ecological sustainability are of special interest.
In this programme DOEN only supports initiatives in the Netherlands (including Aruba, Curacao, Sint Maarten and the BES Islands).
