The SELCO Foundation makes renewable energy available for the poorest of the poor by looking at the obstacles facing the end user. The solutions may be financial (micro-loans), technical (a customised product) or social (training), but are always aimed at paving the way to clean, reliable energy for as many people as possible. The organisation has been active since the 1990s and since then Selco has been able to give 300,000 people access to renewable energy.
SELCO is now using the experience it has gained in India to build an ecosystem for renewable energy in several African countries and India. It is a system where obstacles are removed and energy poverty no longer exists.
